The first thing you want to do is put down your diet drinks! The stuff that makes it sweet also makes your brain think you're hungry. It actually makes you want to eat more! It's not good for you and you don't need it. Drink water instead - lots of it. Your body is made up of mostly water and you need to replenish it every day. Most people are dehydrated because they don't get enough water. You should drink between .5 and .67 ounces of water for every pound you weight. Go for low fat, or vinegar and olive oil. You get the idea. The next time you're in the grocery store, look at how many calories are in 2 tablespoons of Ranch dressing. It will shock you!

If there are certain veggies or fruits you don't like, don't worry about it. Eat as much as you can of what you DO like. Variety can be key for many women. That's the nice thing about season changes and produce at your local grocery store. One item ends as a fresh crop and another replaces it. You will also need high quality, low fat protein sources, too. Think boneless, skinless chicken breast, etc... Cottage cheese is one of my favorites. It's a complete amino acid and is great after a workout.

There are many foods that you can eat that are effective in losing cellulite. Don't try to eat foods that you don't like that you think are great, because you won't stick to it. For a cellulite diet to be effective, it must be one you enjoy.

Today's Tips

1) Don't ever skip breakfast. Eat something: a piece of toast, fruit, etc. Your body's metabolism rate slows down at night and does not speed up again until you eat something. If you wait until lunch to eat, that is 4 or more hours that your body is burning calories at a lower rate. Eat something soon after you get out of bed and your body will burn calories at a higher rate until lunch. Also, don't go more than about 5 hours during the day without eating. That causes you to eat more at meal time. Eat healthy, low-fat snacks in between meals if you are going to go more than 5 hours without a meal.

Dieting Tips: 2) Right after eating a meal, especially dinner, go straight to the bathroom to brush, floss, and mouthwash so that your mouth is feeling nice and clean- this makes it less appealing to eat more (especially before bedtime).

Dieting Tips: 3) If you get hungry you should chew gum. Some people just like to chew things. Chew gum while preparing meals or making lunch for the next day, to prevent you from nibbling food while it is right in front of you.

Dieting Tips: 4) I have noticed that if you eat your meals away from the T.V. and other distracting places that you will enjoy your meal better and will take a little longer to eat the meal. Also drink at least 2 glasses of water or one glass of milk during your meal and you will feel fuller causing you to not go back for seconds. (Note: I suggest water; if drinking milk, make it skim milk).

Dieting Tips: 5) Weight in pounds multiplied by 15 will equal the number of calories per day to maintain that weight. 500 calories less per day will result in approx 1 lb weight loss per week; 750 calories = 1 1/2 lbs per week; 1000 calories = 2 lbs per week. Keep a daily diary of calorie intake. Fat, carbohydrates and protein will automatically adjust themselves to stay within alloted calories per day.

Dieting Tips: 6) Keep healthy foods handy like fruit or vegetables in the fridge. Eat only if hungry.

Never skip meals, you must have some kind of nourishment regularly or your body's starvation defenses will kick in,lower your metabolism, and store fat. How do you measure body fat?

Four methods are used to measure body fat. These are Navy Method, Home Body Fat Scales, Skinfold Calipers, and Hydrostatic Weighing.

A Home Scale is a biometrical impedance method which measures the fat percentage by a very small electrical current which won't harm you. When the result of this test is compared to the weight, the percentage can be determined. As with all tests, there is a margin of error in that other factors do alter the results, such as water in your body, the skin's temperature and if physical exercise was engaged in. You will not be able to eat for three to four hours before beginning the test and no physical activities for 12 hours prior to testing. This will guarantee you an accurate test, determining your body fat.

Using skin fold calipers, is probably the most preferred due to cost. A professional would be your best bet in conducting this test. If that is not feasible, than a set of "commeasure calipers" can be purchased.

Hydrostatic weighing is done under water and is the most accurate way to calculate the percentage of fat. The hardest part to this testing is to find a hydrostatic water tank to do the weighing. The body density is measured by the amount of water you displace when you immerse yourself in the water and then a formula is used to calculate the body fat based on your body density. IT is the most accurate test to measure the percentage of fat in your body.

I have been slightly obese for 37 years of my life and never cared what people thought about me. I believe that one should live happy and not care too much what others think about you.
